Hey Guys!
Well we all know about the Stephen Lawrence case, If not I'll catch you up. 18 years ago, teenager Stephen Laurence was attacked by a group of white youths because he was black, he later died on the street from two stab wounds. 18 years later, two of his 4 + murderers have finally been charged and have been sentenced to 14 & years imprisonment.
The reason why I am bringing it up as a discussion, isn't because the police were careless with the case almost two decades ago, and it isn't because it was a racially fueled attack, I've decided to bring this up because of one thing. Ignorance. An ex colleague of mine made a facebook status today saying "fuck Stephen Lawrence" ranting on about how it was 18 years ago, we should get over it, claiming how Stephen attacked a younger sibling of one of his murderers hence why he was killed, if it was his little brother he would have done the same, and that it wasn't even a racist attack the media just made it look that way... To be honest, it wasn't his comment that angered me...what shocked me the most was the fact that 11 people liked his status...WOW. I want to know what you guys think and we'll have a full blown discussion on all aspects of the case and the issue!
