Whitney Houston DIES at Age 48

As you may have heard, Music LEGEND Whitney Houston sadly passed away today; just a day before the 54th Annual Grammy Awards! She was reportedly found in her room at thre Beverly Hilton Hotel in LA in the bathtub by her bodyguard but cause of death is yet to be announced. Miss Houston is a talent who will never be forgotten; nobody had a voice that compared to hers. The power behind her chords was astounding to the ears and moving to our hearts and she will be greatly missed. It is sad that earth has lost another star, but Solid Mix is praying that heaven has gained another angel. Our thoughts go out to her family and friends at this heartbreaking time, and so everyday this week we will dedicate a post to the late Whitney Houston in her memory. Today it's a must that we have 'I will Always Love You' as the first track.

What's next for Blue Ivy Carter?

So now we know what the heir to the music thrown looks like, what's next for Baby Blue? Well we're all aware that Jay Z and Beyonce have moved to patent Blue Ivy so that nobody can use it as a birth name, brand name or any other kind of name! But why? It's clear from this that the Carter couple have big plans in store for their little girl and Solid Mix have come up with what they might be!

1) Perfume - Need we say more? How brilliant would that be if Jay and Bey brought out a fragrance in honour of Blue Ivy?

2) Nail Polish - Her first time being seen in public since giving birth, Mrs Carter was seen wearing blue nail polish that has yet to be released to honour her daughter. Although the colour is said to be Nails inc's new Baker Street polish, it wouldn't surprise us if somewhere down the line - sooner rather than later, Blue Ivy gets her very own shade made!

3) Shop - Not sure what they'd sell, maybe clothes, might even be a day care or an orphanage or something but we're pretty sure a building of some sort will be built or bought in Blue Ivy's name!

Willow Smith, the youngest of the Smith clan, can 'even' now be described as the most creative, energetic and bold of them all, especially when it comes to down to her career and ultimately her styling, fashion and career direction.

A few weeks ago, pictures of Willow's new hair style emerged, and she is sporting a 'bald' new look:

Yes, the Roc label affiliate, has chosen to shave her hair off and too be honest with you, for a young girl, who's career is just taking flight in the hyper- critically industry of music, her decision has come at the right time! not only for buzz and controversy she needs for upcoming debut album, but to stamp her creative force and name down as an an 'artist' and a 'growing celebritiy' who as long as she is in the industry, will not let her creative and 'own decisison' go un- noticed! She is telling the world she is not be controlled or opressed by her 'superstar' parents, 'rising rapper, actor and dancer' brother Jaden and even her manager Jay- Z!

I feel this move signaled something exciting about the new 'WILLOW' and a change in attitude, music and generation! With only average bubble- gum pop 'Whip My Hair' hitting it big, Willow needs to show the world she is INDEPENDENT, MATURE + UNIQUE! What other girl's do you know at that age, who shaves off all their hair and still looks cute!

Miley Simmons - All Grown UP!!!

The last time I laid eyes on Miley Simmons, she was no more than, One, but now at aged 4, going on 5 in august, the youngest member of the family is just growing before our very eyes! Although Justine and Joseph 'Rev Run' Simmons adopted Miley when she was one month old, a year after the death of their baby Victoria Anne Simmons, it's obvious they love Miley as if she was their own. Rev gushed in a tweet posting this picture (above) saying 'My baby Miley is getting so big, click this pic, she just got her hair did...LOL'.

Drake - Practice official Video

When I first heard that Drake was bringing out a video for this particular song, my first thought was, what concept would do the song justice without it being too visually graphic yet still pleasing to watch? Well it looks like Drake couldn't figure out the answer either because the best he could come up with was getting model, Kyra Chaos to twerk...my bad, I mean attempt to twerk.. infront of her bedroom mirror for a good 4 minutes until Drake himself comes in at the end! They both move towards the bed and it's left to our not so clean imaginations to guess what happens next. When I first started watching I actually thought is this a joke? Is it one of those youtube fans deceiving us with their video title? But no my friends..sadly this is in fact the Official Video. Some people may say that I'm hating, don't get me wrong, the woman has a body! As a female I have no worries with admitting when another female looks good..but as a dancer? Really? She was the best you could find? If she was a stripper I'd ask for my money back. Plus, they could have at least tidied the room up first! I'm disappointed in the video concept itself more than anything, I was expecting something simple, yes, but also something that didn't look like it was filmed with a phone camera.Anyway, take a look and let us know what you think.

SNEAK PEEK: MADONNA Ft; NICKI MINAJ & M.I.A "GIVE ME ALL YOUR LUVIN"

Get ready to chant 'L -U-V Madonna!', as Nicki Minaj and M.I.A team up for the Superbowl take- over which will see the Queen of Pop, Madonna perform her new single, "Give Me All Your Luvin'

The first released single from Madonna's new album, MDNA (March 26th), will get its star- studded extravaganza at Superbowl half- time show(5th Feb) as Madonna hits the stage with Nicki and M.I.A.

Madonna will also perform a selection of her other big hits and it is rumoured that she has enlisted help from LMFAO and Cee- Lo Green to accompany her.

A minute long- preview of the video, has been released and we are expecting the full video alongside the single to drop February 3rd on American Idol. The Mega- force directed clip, sees Madonna exiting a door pushing a pram, which then cuts to her being serenaded by american footballers who heist her up during her performance of seductive moves.

Nicki Minaj and M.I.A also play their parts, as head cheerleaders decked in cute Adidas cheersuits as they perform the chorus with their red- and black pom pom's. Nicki Minaj also released a snippet of her rap which is explosive and features her 'troublesome'- alter ego Roman.

Ciara To Hit The BIG SCREEN!!

It's been a while since we've heard any fresh music from the very talented (and in my opinion), very underrated beauty that is Miss Ciara.

After a string of albums that didn't fare too well in the charts with 'Fantasy Ride' and 'Basic Instinct'; Ciara was released from Jive Records last year and later signed to Epic Records. With her fifth studio album on its way Ciara also had time to star in the upcoming Adam Sandler movie 'Donny's Boy'.

'Donny's Boy' is a comedy in which a father moves in with his son but doesn't get along with his soon to be daugher-in law. The film features other well known stars Leighton Meester(Gossip Girl) and Vanilla Ice.

The film will be Ciara's third acting job having previously worked on television film 'All You've Got' (2006) and 'Mama I Want To Sing'(2011). 'Donny's Boy' is set to be released in September 2012.

Will and Jada Smith to Divorce?? SAY IT AIN'T SO!!

According to Jada's great aunt - Estelle Pinkett and ex step-dad, it seems to be in the cards for Hollywood's most loved couple! Reports have it that the two are living 3000 miles apart, Willow, 11, is currently living in LA with her Mother until her tour in May, while Jaden, 13, is living with his Dad in Philly where they are set to film their latest movie 'After Earth'. A source has claimed that the kids are really suffering and have shed tears over the issue many times. The family has been torn apart for a while now. "They haven't spent any time as a whole family in months," explains the source. "And it's not going to happen anytime soon - if ever again."

"I'm sure [their parents] take into consideration, the psychological impact on the kids and what they could do to make it minimal," Jada's ex stepdad Warren Brown tells Star Magazine, "It would surprise me if the stayed together."

So much for family support right? Whether divorce will be the end result I don't think it's right for family members to disclose such information, it should be left to the couple to decide when, where how and IF the public are to be told their personal business. All these so-called named and un-named close sources should be ashamed of themselves.

Anyway, we at Solid Mix hope it's all just rumours, it would be a shame to see such a lovely family torn apart.
